Apple Announces 'Special Event' on September 1st

Apple has announced that it will be holding a 'Special Event' on September 1st in San Francisco, according to an invitation received by Engadget.

Apple is rumored to be announcing a new iPod touch with dual cameras, a new Apple TV dubbed the iTV, $.99 TV Show rentals, and an iTunes streaming service.

Yahoo Mail goes HTML5 for iPad

Yahoo has introduced an all-new and improved HTML5-optimized version of Yahoo Mail for the iPad, delivering a faster and easier to organise solution when it did.

"If you've used our recently launched HTML5 mobile Web mail for iPhone you'll feel right at home," writes Lee Parry, product manager for Yahoo Mail. "We've kept all the things users love about our new mobile Web mail experience, while also optimizing for the gorgeous large screen of the iPad."

If you’re offline, Yahoo! Mail uses local caching capabilities to help you access and search your messages even without an Internet connection.

The new Yahoo Mail also lets you view rich photo attachments in their full form, or as previews directly in the inbox view. There's a dual-pane view, too.

Search has also been improved. Now you can search using full search, personal folders, or a smart folder of most important contacts.

Photo attachments will also be viewable in their full form or as inbox previews, Yahoo said, and the inbox itself has a dual-pane view.

I’m a fan of ridge racer and this looks fun, but the game crashes at every race. I’ve restarted my device twice already. And there needs to be more free content soon. There’s only 2 tracks and 3 cars! Dlc is too expensive too. Stop releasing lite versions you have to pay for namco! Don’t buy this crap.

iPhone 4 to be Launched in Malaysia end of this month!

Just a short article here. My inside source (very reliable source indeed) said Maxis will launch the long awaited iPhone 4 this Merdeka Day or specifically on this August 30th.

This is not 100% confirmed yet but all he can say is the iPhone 4 will be launched before Hari Raya and most probably on August 30th.

Come on Maxis, bring it on! We can't wait no more!

Apple Release iPhone iOS 4.0.2, iPad iOS 3.2.2 [Don't Update!]

Apple has released iOS 4.0.2 for the iPhone. Do not update your device until more details about the firmware are discovered.

It is VERY important that you have your SHSH blobs for 4.0 or 4.0.1 saved. Apple will stop signing 4.0.1 in just a few minutes/hours.

Follow one of these tutorials ASAP:

- Mac

It's thought that the 4.0.2 update will patch the PDF vulnerability that comex used to perform his jailbreak.

Update:
Planetbeing tweets that Apple hasn't bothered to patch the exploit for the first generation iPhone. Are you serious, Apple's not going to patch the Safari remote execution on the first gen iPhone???!

Update 2:
Apple has posted a support document outlining the security issue that has been fixed.

A stack buffer overflow exists in FreeType's handling of CFF opcodes. Viewing a PDF document with maliciously crafted embedded fonts may allow arbitrary code execution. This issue is addressed through improved bounds checking.

Update 3:
MuscleNerd notes that the baseband hasn't been updated in 4.0.2. iPhone 4 baseband isn't updated in 4.0.2, but ultrasn0w requires JB. 4.0.1 SHSH blobs will protect you from "oops" update

Apple has released iOS 3.2.2 for the iPad which blocks the pdf exploit used for JailbreakMe. The iPhone and iPod touch update was released earlier today.

We recommend not updating to this firmware version and of course making sure that you have your SHSH blobs saved. You can use one of the tutorials below to do this:

New iPads, Metal Antenna Back for Verizon iPhone, Apple TV Without Hard Drive?

Digitimes is reporting that Apple will announced new iPads with upgraded processors, a Verizon iPhone with a metal antenna back, and an Apple TV with no hard drive.

Their report indicates that the 9.7-inch iPad will adopt a new ARM Cortex-A9-based processor and 512MB RAM in the first quarter of 2011. They also expect Apple to launch a 7-inch iPad using the Cortex-A9 processor and an IPS panel with a resolution of 1024×768. iLounge recently predicted a 7-inch iPad as well.

In regards to the iPhone, Verizon is expected to announce a CDMA version of the device at CES 2011. The CDMA iPhone's back plate will be forged from metal materials and will feature an integrated antenna. TechCrunch recently gave credence to the rumor that Verizon would get the iPhone in January.

Finally, Apple will reportedly launch a new Apple TV using AMD's Fusion solution and will not include a hard drive. The new device will adopt a user interface similar to the iPhone with support for social networking websites, network multimedia and the App Store. Mass production of the device will start in December. Engadget has also predicted a new Apple TV without a hard drive.

iOS 4 for iPad, iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod touch 4 with FaceTime Launching in Mid August?

Folks at the MacMagazine claims to have got this information from reliable sources within Apple who has confirmed to them that instead of the usual Apple’s “Media event” in September, Apple this year will be hosting their event as early as mid of this August, somewhere around 14th to 16th. Since 14th August falls on Saturday, what they believe is that the event is likely going to be held on Monday or Tuesday i.e. 16th or 17th of this month.

The focus of the event will mainly revolve around the new iPods line. The much hyped and rumored iPod touch 4 / 4G will be unveiled featuring: front-facing camera for FaceTime, gyroscope like in iPhone 4, and a camera on the back with LED flash light. The much awaitediOS 4 for iPad will also be part of this event. Apple might also take this opportunity to release iOS 4.1 for all iPhones and iPod touches which will fix proximity sensor issue for iPhone 4 users, close the JailbreakMe PDF exploit among many other things.

How to Unlock the iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G Using UltraSn0w

These are instructions on how to unlock the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 3G for use with any GSM cellphone carrier using UltraSn0w. This will work with the iOS 4.0 firmware.

Before you can follow these instructions you must have a jailbroken iPhone and you must be on the 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04, or 01.59 baseband(modem firmware).

To find your firmware and modem firmware(baseband) versions you can follow this tutorial.

If you are on T-Mobile remember to turn off 3G before starting...
